How Do I Report Issues?

Reservations & Scheduling

 

  • Users are allowed to schedule reservable spaces for three total hours per day.
    • The three total hours can be reserved directly by users in any of the following combinations:
      • Three 1-hour reservations
      • One 3-hour reservation
      • One 2-hour reservation and one 1-hour reservation
  • With the exception of Room 414 and the Virtual Discovery Space, users may use a room or table without making a reservation provided there are no prior reservations.
  • Reservations may be made up to 8 days in advance.
  • Recurring reservations are not accepted.
  • NOTE: To reserve a study room online, you must have a NetID.

Do I need a Reservation?

  • When not reserved, all study rooms and tables (with the exception of room 414 and the Virtual Discovery Space) are open on a first come first served basis; however, you must vacate when requested by an individual with a valid reservation.

How to Reserve a Study Space in the MSU Library

  • Click on the green time slot(s) for the space you want to reserve using the calendar grid. (You may be asked to log in using your NetID and password if not already logged in.)
  • If you need a reservation for longer than 1-hour, simply click the next hour in the grid. (Two clicks for a 2-hour reservation, three clicks for a 3-hour reservation.)
  • Your selection(s) will appear near the bottom of the page. Click the Reserve These Times button.
  • Read and agree to the Terms & Conditions
  • Assign a nickname to your reservation. This nickname will not appear on the public page but can be used to search for your reservation at a later time.
  • Click the Submit My Reservation button

Capacity & Locations

  • 1st floor:
    • Six rooms that allow for 10 people max per room. These rooms are not fully enclosed.
    • Virtual Discovery Space. Semi-enclosed area that allows for ~8 people to engage in large scale visualization and virtual reality activities.
  • 2nd floor:  
    • Seven large tables in the open areas of the floor (non-enclosed) that allow for 10 people max.
      • Five tables are high tops and are not accessible.
      • Two tables are normal table height and are accessible.  
  • 3rd floor:
    • Five rooms rooms that allow for 5-7 people max per room. These rooms are fully enclosed and are accessible.
  • 4th floor:
    • One room that allows for 1-2 people max. This room is fully enclosed and has no windows. 
      • Users must have a reservation to use this room.
      • Users must check out a key at the Library Service Desk to use this room.
      • This room is intended for very quiet study, low sensory activities, and contemplative practices.

Technology Available

  • All study rooms on the 1st and 3rd floors are equipped with the following:
    • 52 inch digital display monitor
    • Computer
    • Laptop hookups: HDMI & VGA for screen sharing from personal devices
    • White board
  • Two study rooms on the 3rd floor (327 & 329) have audio/video capability (web cams and sound) and are good for online meetings and interviews.
  • The reservable tables on the 2nd floor have no technology, but do offer power outlets.
  • Room 414 has a desktop computer with a camera and microphone. No whiteboard is available.

Use Guidelines

Who Can Reserve Library Study Spaces?

  • Reservations can only be made by individuals with a NetID and password.
  • When not reserved or in use, anyone may use a study room or table (with the exception of room 414 and the Virtual Discovery Space). 
  • Not affiliated with MSU? Contact the Library Service Desk to inquire about a reservation.

Courtesy is expected:

  • Conversation must be held to a reasonable level. 
  • Rooms must be left in a clean and orderly condition.
  • The Library is not responsible for personal property left in rooms; items found will be placed in the library's lost and found then routed to the Information desk in the SUB.
  • Report any damage or equipment failures immediately to the Service Desk. If damage is discovered after your use, you may be held responsible

How do I Report Issues?

  • To report any damage or equipment failures contact the Library Service desk on the 1st floor of the library, in person for via phone at:  (406) 994-3139. If damage is discovered after your use, you may be held responsible.
