The MSU Library is the center of intellectual life at Montana State University. Your gift helps transform lives and the future for our students, faculty, Montanans, and scholars around the world.

MSU Library collections determine the future of scholarship. Print and digital resources are a continuous need for MSU students. The MSU Library unlocks the best e-resources and bring in materials from around the world needed for the world class research happening at MSU.

Supporting the MSU Library ensures that students succeed by providing them with the best, high quality information resources; spaces for study, research, and community building; faculty who can help them with all of their research needs; and connections they need to find their home here at Montana State University in our events and activities.

You can support Montana State University Library through Financial Gifts, Gifts in Kind, or by becoming a Friend of the MSU Library.

Financial Gifts and Library Funding Priorities

Your gift to the MSU Library will help us expand and enhance the experiences and services the MSU Library provides to our campus community. Our funding priorities are listed below.

Funding Priorities

Dean’s Excellence Fund – Gifts to this fund enable the Dean to support critical and emergent needs such as purchasing new materials and technology, activities and projects, new programs, supporting the building and student study spaces, and enhancing the overall excellence of the MSU Library.

Bud Lilly Trout and Salmonid Initiative Thanks to Bud Lilly and other generous donors, the MSU Library is home to the world’s largest and most comprehensive research center for information related to the study of Trout and Salmonids. Your gift enables us to continue building an internationally acclaimed center that represents the global experience of angling, its history, and the protection of these species.

Artificial Intelligence Literary and Innovation – The MSU Library is a leader at Montana State University about Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy and experimenting with AI technologies to improve user access to our resources. This work is emerging and your support can help us keep in tune with developments in this area and help our students and faculty be well-informed in navigating these environments.
