Who can use MSU Library's online resources?

Alumni

At this time, MSU Alumni do not retain their privileges to access MSU Library online resources. They may continue to use these resources by accessing them on campus using a Library computer. However, there are select resources that require a login, even from on campus, and they are specified with a lock-icon on the A-Z Database page

Community Members & Non-MSU Affiliates

Community and non-MSU affiliates will not be able to access our electronic resources from off campus locations but anyone can access the majority of our electronic resources by using a computer in the Library. However, there are select resources that require a login, even from on campus, and they are specified with a lock-icon on the A-Z Database page

Current MSU Bozeman Faculty, Staff, & Students

MSU Bozeman staff, faculty, and students enrolled in the current term have access to MSU Library electronic resources. They will use their NetID credentials when prompted to log in to the Library.

Emeritus Faculty

Emeritus faculty will retain their privileges to access MSU Library online resources remotely. However, they will need to submit a request for approval of a nonemployee appointment to obtain access. To ensure uninterrupted access to Library resources, this appointment must be renewed yearly. Approved appointments will have off campus access to all of the Library's online resources. It is important to note that anyone not appointed in accordance with this policy, will not be granted access to the Library's resources.

Affiliate/Courtesy Faculty Appointments

Sometimes departments at MSU will grant appointments to non-MSU employees. In order for these types of affiliates to obtain access to the Library's electronic resources, a request for approval of a nonemployee appointment must be submitted and approved by the Provost. To ensure uninterrupted access to Library resources, this appointment must be renewed yearly. Approved appointments will have off campus access to all of the Library's online resources. It is important to note that anyone not appointed in accordance with this policy, will not be granted access to the Library's resources.

Special Circumstances

If you belong to an academic program, department, or major (e.g., MSMME, Fish, Wildlife, and Parks,) that does NOT use NetIDs, please complete the Library Account Application Form.
