How Do I Log In to Library Accounts?

What's My Library User Name?

  • Your 8 digit Banner ID number
  • Also called CAT Card number, Student ID, etc.
  • Be sure to use all 8 digits (no dash or punction).
  • Example: 01234567 CatCard

Library Password Rules

  • At least 6 and no more than 10 characters
  • Must have at least 1 letter and 1 number
  • Letters and number only; No special characters allowed
  • Case Sensitive: 93notFUN is different than 93notfun

Request a Proxy Account

  • No registration is required for most MSU affiliates. If you are not successful logging in to library resources or do not have a Banner/CatCard Number, then you should apply. Otherwise, your account is already in the system by virtue of being a student or employee of MSU.
  • In accordance with our licensing agreements for databases and journals, only Montana State University Faculty, Staff, Students, and legal affiliates as determined by the Provost's office are eligible for this service!
  • To apply, submit the Proxy Account Application form.
