MSU Library is pleased to announce a new institutional membership to the Qualitative Data Repository (QDR). QDR is a dedicated archive for storing and sharing data (and accompanying documentation) that is generated or collected through qualitative and mixed-method research in the social sciences and related disciplines. MSU researchers can use QDR to discover and use qualitative data, as well as to share their own qualitative research data to satisfy publisher and funder data sharing requirements.

As institutional members, MSU researchers can deposit data in QDR for free. The benefits of using QDR include:

  • Detailed data curation assistance to ensure that data is fully de-identified, annotated, and ready for sharing
  • Tiered levels of data access including the ability to restrict access to sensitive data

To start using QDR, go to qdr.syr.edu and register for a new account using your montana.edu email address.

Other Data Management and Sharing Resources

MSU Library is dedicated to helping MSU research data be more findable, accessible, and transparent. Other relevant resources:

  • The MSU Library Data Management Resources page provides additional information and resources, including guidance on selecting data repositories and cut-and-paste language that can be used in data management plans.
  • MSU is also a member of Dryad, a general repository that accepts any type of research data, including software and code through a partnership with Zenodo. Publishing data in Dryad is free for MSU researchers, thanks to our institutional membership.
  • MSU Dataset Search supports findability for research data shared by MSU researchers.
