Open access to scholarly literature and research documentation increases the impact of research conducted at MSU, thus furthering the spread of new knowledge, not only for our students and affiliates, but for all those who value the pursuit of learning and innovation.

The MSU Library supports a variety of open access initiatives on the Montana State University campus and aligns communications with publishers to it's negotiating principles and practices in order to provide access to scholarship.

Read & Publish Agreements

The MSU Library supports publication in journals that allow for open access deposit where possible, thus, the library is interested in negotiating contracts that support both read access and open access (OA) publishing that align with it's negotiating principles.

While the library supports MSU authors making their work openly available, it recognizes and promotes academic freedom—any agreementsnegotiated by the MSU Library, allows MSU authors to choosewhere and how to publishtheir work.

The following list shows current Read & Publish agreements in place at the MSU Library. Each respective publisher agreement allows all MSU users full read-access to journal content AND corresponding MSU authors to publish open access articles in eligible journals at no charge to the author.
