MSU Library’s CatSearch (the catalog) was upgraded on June 27. Users should update any bookmarks or permalinks pointing to library resources (books, articles, videos, etc.) by September 29, 2022. After this date, any links not updated will result in an error message to users.

What do I need to do?

If you have bookmarked links to CatSearch, or to specific items in the library’s catalog such as books, articles, movies, etc., those will need to be updated to direct to the updated interface. Any links that are not updated will no longer be functional after September 29, 2022.

How do I create permalinks?

To create permalinks to items, conduct a search for the item. In the upper right corner of the item record, select the permalink icon. This will expand the record – select ‘Copy the permalink to clipboard’.

  1. Open an existing permalink. For example, http://msu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/01TRAILS_MSU:P-01TRAILS_MSU:01TRAILS_ALMA71121198880003366
  2. Copy the item’s title: Anatomy and Physiology of Domestic Animals
  3. Navigate to the upgraded CatSearch interface and conduct a search for the item.
  4. Once you’ve found the item, in the upper right corner of the item record, select the permalink icon. This will expand the record – select ‘Copy the permalink to clipboard’.

How do I know I updated the permalink correctly?

If you’re unsure if you’re using an updated or old permalink, the easiest way to tell is to look for the following information in the URL:

  • Old permalinks will have the following in the URL: msu-primo.hosted
  • Updated permalink URLs will have: trails-msu.primo
