New Faculty Library Funds
All new tenure-track faculty and non-tenure track faculty at .5 FTE or greater are eligible for $600 in purchases of physical (e.g. books, videos, maps, etc.) or online (e.g. eBooks, datasets) information resources in support of their research and/or teaching in their first year of working at Montana State University. These items need to fall into our regular collection acquisition guidelines as identified in our Collection Development Policy, and items are purchased for the library's regular collection, with the faculty member getting the first option to check the item(s) out. The Collection Development Librarian makes the final determination on all purchases. If subscriptions to journals or databases are preferred, then the $600 can be applied towards such subscriptions if there are sufficient funds and demand for adding these subscriptions which require annual renewal payments.
Ultimately, if there is something you want the library to acquire, it does not hurt to ask whether you are new faculty or longer-term MSU faculty member. We want to support your teaching and research to the best of our ability.
New faculty can submit these requests through our purchase request form, or directly to Molly Arrandale, Monographic Program Manager or Rachelle McLain, Collection Development Librarian.
In a related, but different fund, faculty are eligible for making their research available via open access through our Author Fund.
