Biography and Genealogy Master Index
What is it? Biography and Genealogy Master Index (BGMI) has citations to over 13.6 million biographical sketches. It indexes current reference sources, as well as the many retrospective works that cover individuals, both living and deceased, from every field of activity and from all areas of the world. Many of the sources are available in the MSU Libraries reference or general collection. Updated twice a year, with about 300,000 new citations on each update.

Coverage: 1975-present
Access: Available on networked computers on the MSU campus in Bozeman and via the proxy server. Two simultaneous users.

BGMI indexes over 1,500 biographical dictionaries and Who's Whos, subject encyclopedias with biographical entries, volumes of literary criticism, and other indexes. BGMI has been published since 1975, but many of the biographical dictionaries it indexes are even older.
