  • Data Wrangling in R Workshop, Spring 2021 - Mark Greenwood, Sara Mannheimer and Greta Linse

In this workshop, you will learn how to manipulate data in R using the dplyr and tidyr packages. Using dplyr, you will master the verbs of data manipulation to select, filter, mutate, arrange, and summarize your data, as well as, how to chain these operations together using the pipe operator. You will learn concepts of wide and long data formats, for which purposes each of these formats are useful, and how to reshape data frames from long to wide and back. These concepts will be presented in an interactive format, integrating computational practice throughout the workshop. This workshop was originally presented online through Microsoft Teams on March 31, 2021 by Sara Mannheimer, Greta Linse, and Mark Greenwood, using an interactive online tutorial: https://rconnect.math.montana.edu/Data_Wrangling/ The workshop was sponsored by Montana State University (MSU) Department of Mathematics, Statistical Consulting and Research Services and the MSU Library. ~Note: For library content that is not accessible, we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and timely access to users with disabilities.
