  • Introduction to R - Fall 2020

This workshop will start with the building blocks of creating and exploring the data structures available in R. Then we'll learn some basic tools for inspecting, extracting, manipulating, summarizing, and visualizing data. We will also discuss accessing and using R packages, and how to use R's built-in help interface. The workshop was originally taught on September 10, 2020 by Mark Greenwood, with assistance from Greta Linse and Sara Mannheimer. The content is based on The Carpentries (https://carpentries.org) and workshops by Allison Theobold. Workshop materials can be downloaded using this link: http://www.montana.edu/datascience/training/IntroR_Materials_Fall2020.zip For this workshop, we will be making use of the RStudio that you will need to install on your computer. If you need help installing RStudio, go through the steps discussed here https://greenwood-stat.shinyapps.io/InstallDemo_RWorkshops/. The short version for downloading is to first go to https://cloud.r-project.org/ to get R installed and then go to https://rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/ to install RStudio.
