Position Overview

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) unit of Collection, Access & Technical Services (CATS) assists the interlibrary loan unit’s staff in processing interlibrary loan requests for MSU customers as well as patrons of other global libraries.

Work Schedule

Interlibrary Loan is open during the day.  Applicants must be available to work during the week, Monday through Friday, during the hours of 8 am – 4 pm, totaling 10-12 hours per week.  Interlibrary Loan is closed nights and weekends. 

Job Responsibilities

Some primary responsibilities include:

  • Finding resources from the library’s collections (physical & electronic) to send to other libraries. This requires pushing a partially loaded book truck and climbing on a stool to reach high shelves in the library.
  • Processing ILL mail: opening mail containing resources we are borrowing from lending libraries & packaging and sending resources we are lending to other libraries.
  • Scanning: making digital versions of resources to send to other libraries and researcher on campus. 

Requirements

  • Pay attention to details.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Work independently.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be dependable.
  • Be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Available to work during the hours of 8 am – 5 pm.

Pay

The starting rate for all student employees is $12/hr.
