Brotogeris Nexus

I'm looking for a grey-cheeked parakeet (a.k.a. grey cheeks, pocket parrot, orange-flanked parakeet), yellow-chevroned parakeet (a.k.a. canary-winged parakeet), white-winged parakeet, orange-chinned parakeet (a.k.a. Bee Bee or Tovi parakeet), golden-winged parakeet, plain parakeet, Tui parakeet, or cobalt-winged parakeet. Where do I find one?

One of the most asked questions received, since this site was created, is "Where can I get one?" If you are looking for one of these birds, instead of contacting the owner of this site, check the following sources:
  1. Brotogeris List at Yahoogroups. Join this list. They are a group of breeders and pet owners of birds of this genus and could assist your search. Highly recommended.
  2. Brotogeris Exchange List at Yahoogroups. Join this list.
  3. Brotogeris Want Ads
  4. Brotogeris Breeder Junction

If you are a Brotogeris owner, please contact the breeder and let them know they can be added to the Brotogeris Breeders Junction. Thanks for your help with this.

Brotogeris Breeders

Do you breed birds in the Brotogeris Genus? If so, add your name to the Brotogeris Breeder Junction so that you can get connected with other breeders of these special birds. Grey cheeks, especially, are considered "near-threatened" in the wild ("Biodiversity and Conservation in Tumbesian Ecuador and Peru," Brinley Best, et al). In the very near future, it may be up to us to keep the U.S. "captive" population going. Breeders, please consider a cooperative breeding program with other breeders listed and exchange breeding stock to insure good bloodlines. Also read about the Secret Garden Aviaries' Brotogeris project. Please fill out the Brotogeris Breeders Survey.

Again, I want to reiterate that you should consider joining the Brotogeris discussion list. This is a good network to help you locate a breeder or to ask questions about breeding these birds.
