- Interlibrary Loan
Requests: MSU-Bozeman students, faculty and staff can request
materials from other libraries when they are not held at the MSU
Libraries. Either come in to the Reference Desk (1st floor, Renne
Library) and fill in a request form, or submit an electronic request using
the link above. Be sure to check the online catalog, CatTrac, to determine
whether or not the Libraries hold an item before you submit a request.
There is no charge for this service. Allow at least three weeks
for delivery of requested items
- Reference Services: The MSU Libraries offer reference service
in person at the Reference Desk in Renne Library and by telephone
at 994-3171. The Reference Desk is staffed
Monday-Thursday 8 AM to 10 PM, Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturday 1 to 5 PM,
and Sunday 1 to 10 PM during regular semester sessions. Summer,
intersession and holiday hours are posted in Renne Library. Alternatively,
if you would like to contact an MSU-Bozeman reference librarian via the
World-Wide Web, fill in an Electronic Reference
Service request form. (You will need an active e-mail account (TREX
or other) to use this reference option).
- Reference Resources: The Libraries offer organized access to
reference resources such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks,
guides, etc. Print reference resources can be found in the Reference
Stacks (1st floor of Renne Library). Other reference resources are
accessible electronically from the Web. See, for instance, Encyclopedia Britannica. Speak with a
reference librarian to identify reference resources of interest.
- MSU-Bozeman Libraries Web
Services: The Libraries' Web site not only includes information
about library services, materials, and policies, it provides links to
local newspaper indexes, full text agricultural databases and selected
periodicals. It also gives an index of links to Internet resources in
many subject areas. Access the Libraries Web site by activating the
link above or from your TREX account by typing lynx
http://www.lib.montana.edu at the prompt.
- Government Information
Collections and Services Provided by MSU-Bozeman Libraries: The
MSU-Bozeman Libraries is a selective depository for United States,
Montana, and Canadian government publications. Read this guide for help
finding government documents at MSU and beyond, including a link to
a Government
Printing Office (GPO) Access gateway, GPO Gate. You can also
access a list of selected links to other
government information through the Libraries' Internet
Resources list.
- Special Collections,
MSU-Bozeman Libraries: The Merrill G. Burlingame Special
Collections is the location for finding comprehensive information on
select subject areas. Special Collections is committed to assembling
primary and secondary scholarly materials on specific topics supporting
MSU curricular and research needs. Areas of collecting emphasis are:
Yellowstone National Park, the Yellowstone ecosystem, Montana history,
Montana agriculture, regional Native Americans, Bozeman, and the Gallatin
Valley. Research level collections on individuals include U.S. Senator
Burton K. Wheeler, F. Jay Haynes, Jack E. Haynes, Merrill G. Burlingame,
and James Willard Schultz. The reading room (2nd floor, Renne Library) is
open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment
