MSU-Bozeman Wikipedia Campus Ambassador Program
The Wikimedia Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual content to the public, operates Wikipedia, one of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects in the world.
According to Wikipedia's statistics, there are currently 14,307,794 world-wide registered user accounts, and 3,604,481 articles in the Wikipedia English-language edition. "Wikipedians" are the volunteers who write and edit Wikipedia articles.
The MSU-Bozeman campus, Native American Studies program and Renne Library are just one of only 22 universities with 31 courses and approximately 8 campus libraries across the entire United States that are actively teaching scholarly Wikipedian writing and editing by participating in Wikimedia's Public Policy Initiative and Wikipedia Campus Ambassador Program.
MSU-Bozeman is the only campus in Montana and in Wikimedia's Northwest Region currently participating, and it has two Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors supporting Professor Ruppel's NAS-426/530 Federal Indian Law and Policy course.
Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors are volunteers who connect academic and student Wikipedians, new editors, and subject matter experts with writing and editing Wikipedia scholarly content through university academic coursework.
Join the MSU-Bozeman Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors and other MSU-Bozeman Wikipedians during Spring-2011 semester at their information table in the SUB on Monday, April 25th and Tuesday, April 25th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
