About the Read & Publish Agreement
MSU Library has a three-year ‘read and publish’ agreement with IOP Publishing. The ‘read and publish’ agreement will give MSU faculty, students, and staff full and permanent access to read articles published in IOP journals. In addition, Montana State University corresponding authors will be able to publish an uncapped number of articles in select IOP journals under this agreement.
Overview of Publishing Agreement
- Open Access Article Allowance: Unlimited
- Eligible Journals: Look up title in the IOPP Journal Finder to determine eligibility
- Author Eligibility: Montana State University corresponding authors
- Article Processing Charges (APCs) are fully covered for eligible MSU authors

How to Apply for Funding
- To publish open access under this agreement, corresponding authors will follow these steps for publishing an article with IOPP.
- IOPP will vet your article to verify if you're eligible for funding, and if so, they will automatically convert your paper to OA; they will also provide you with information on opting out of OA publishing.
- The library will be notified of the request for funding with no additional steps needed from the author.
