Cataloging is a very important public service to library users everywhere. The Cataloging, Metadata, and Processing Unit at the MSU Library, catalogs items to make sure our users find all the resources the MSU Library owns. Search points include not only title, author, publisher and date, but subjects and abstracts, etc., so users can find items that they don’t already know about. When we create new records we also share them with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Other libraries do too, creating a world-wide network dedicated to making resources discoverable by the public.
