About Digital Initiatives
Mission
MSU Digital Initiatives serves as the catalyst for the creation, management, and delivery of digital content in support of the MSU Library mission and goals. The initiative provides for the storage and dissemination of digital objects, including text, images, audio, and video in their various digital manifestations and combinations. The MSU Library provides a web presence for digital collections, and provides storage, backup and digital preservation support for all digital content accepted into, or developed by the Library.
Purpose
- Makes materials within the libraries and archives, as well as materials held elsewhere that are relevant to University programs and initiatives, more accessible.
- Makes content valuable to faculty and staff for teaching and research readily available in digital formats compatible with instructional technology tools.
- Builds digital collections for materials that are unique, less widely disseminated, or held by multiple libraries.
- Organizes and provides tools for easy identification and navigation of digital content, both locally created and commercially licensed.
- Educates faculty, librarians, and other staff in the creation and effective use of digital content.
