About: Digital Initiatives
Mission
MSU Digital Initiatives serves as the catalyst for the creation, management, and delivery of digital content in support of the MSU Library mission and goals. The initiative provides for the storage and dissemination of digital objects, including text, images, audio, and video in their various digital manifestations and combinations. The MSU Library provides a web presence for digital collections, and provides storage, backup and digital preservation support for all digital content accepted into, or developed by the Library.
MSU Digital Initiatives Aims To:
- Make materials more accessible, both materials within the libraries and archives as well as material held elsewhere that is relevant to University programs and initiatives.
- Make content of value to faculty and staff for teaching and research readily available in digital formats compatible with instructional technology tools.
- Build digital collections including materials that are unique or less widely disseminated or held by multiple libraries.
- Organize and provide tools for easy identification and navigation of digital content, both locally created and commercially licensed.
- Educate faculty, librarians, and other staff in the creation and effective use of digital content.
- Provide a stable, scalable, and sustainable platform for the delivery and long-term management of digital content.
