Photographs, Color Transparencies, and Motion Pictures

Visual materials created by Hormay, including black and white photographs, color transparency slides, and motion pictures, documenting his professional and personal activities, 1931-1997. A portion of this series consists of photographs Hormay created and collected of his family and portraits of himself. The majority consists of images of rangelands. The black and white photographs primarily document activities in the United States Forest Service areas of northeastern California, including Modoc National Forest, Lassen National Forest, and Plumas National Forest. The color transparencies also document activities in the United States Forest Service areas of northeastern California, but provide a detail conditions and activities throughout the western region of the United States. The black and white photographs and transparencies are arranged sequentially according to numbers assigned by Hormay. All individual images are available as digital surrogates with descriptions via the Internet. Descriptions of images reflect documentation available in collection, while information and descriptions in brackets have been discern by the processing archivist. The photograph documentation component includes information about individual images. This series also includes membership and award certificates received by Hormay.
