Provenance Note: Papers and memorabilia pertaining to U.S. Senator Burton K. Wheeler collected by Marion Montana Wheeler Scott were donated to Special Collections by Mrs. Scott, on May 25, 1990.
Historical Note: Marion Wheeler Scott is the youngest daughter of U.S. Senator Burton K. Wheeler. She was born on April 24, 1925 and grew up in the family home in Washington, D.C. She collected material on her father's career for much of her life and responded favorably to a 1990 request from family members to deposit her material at Montana State University to help build a body of research materials pertaining to the Senator.
Content Description Note: The collection consists of speeches, miscellaneous papers, articles, and correspondence pertaining to the career of Burton K. Wheeler. The material has been organized into four separate series. Series 1 consists of printed and manuscript speeches delivered by Wheeler and others. Series 2 consists of subject files which contain a variety of letters, papers, and memorabilia. Series 3, scrapbooks, holds material about Burton K. Wheeler which were created or collected by Marion Wheeler Scott. Series 4 contains 6 photographs and 1 pencil illustration of Senator Wheeler.

Printed and manuscript speeches that were delivered by Burton K. Wheeler between Oct. 31, 1939 and Aug. 8, 1945. Also included are Speeches by Sen. Joseph C. O'Mahoney of Wyoming (1939-1941), Adolph A. Berle, Jr. (Jan. 31, 1940), Sen. Robert M. LaFollette, Jr. (Sept. 11, 1940), and Archbishop Francis J.L. Beckman (June 21, 1941).
