    Ben Leubner reads "What Work Is" by Philip Levine during Poetry Live! in Bozeman, Montana Poetry Live! is a community celebration that was held April 9, 2012 in the Community Room at Bozeman Public Library. The public was invited to read or recite an original poem or a favorite work by a favorite poet. This event was sponsored by the Montana State University Library, the MSU English Club and English Department, Bozeman Public Library, and the Bozeman High School Libraries.     The MSU Library Trout and Salmonid Lecture Series welcomed Chris Wood, the president and CEO of Trout Unlimited, as the 2015 Trout Lecture keynote speaker. Chris Wood presents "Saving the World: One Trout at a Time" on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of the Rockies Hager Auditorium. Each year, the Montana State University (MSU) Library's Trout and Salmonid Lecture Series hosts a world-renowned speaker and offers a free lecture event to the MSU and Bozeman communities on the general subject of trout and salmonid studies. This taped lecture is a rich, compelling story of Chris Wood's life's mission to focus on the preservation of public lands, streams, rivers and natural habitats to ensure their viability now and for future generations for the preservation of wild salmon and trout.     Dale Askey, Associate University Librarian at McMaster University, speaks at Montana State University on Monday, February 4, 2013. Askey presented a talk titled "Engaging Faculty and Students in Digital Scholarship" to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Digital scholarship is defined by the creative and deliberate application of computing technologies to research that was previously conducted using analog means. It is nearly always multidisciplinary, requires a high degree of collaboration, and is both influenced by and engaged in the digital culture in which we live. Digital scholarship thrives in an environment where knowledge and data are shared as openly as possible.   • The Montana State University Library hosted the launch of the Ivan Doig Archive (https://ivandoig.montana.edu) on September 19, 2016 in the Strand Union Building on the Montana State University campus. Ivan Doig (1939-2015) was the critically acclaimed author of 16 works of fiction and nonfiction primarily set in Montana. The archive was awarded to Montana State University by Ivan’s widow, Carol Muller Doig, following a joint proposal submitted by the MSU Library and the MSU College of Letters & Science in fall 2015.

President Waded Cruzado, Dean Kenning Arlitsch, and Dean Nicol Rae open the event, followed by the unveiling of the print and digital versions of the archive, which contains Ivan Doig’s original manuscripts, diaries, personal interviews, correspondence, notes, and memorabilia. It also features thousands of images including family albums, travel, and research photographs as well as documentation detailing the author’s battle with multiple myeloma. 

A panel discussion of Doig’s work, life, and his place in Montana’s literary and historical landscape follow the unveiling. This panel includes Carol Muller Doig, Marcella Sherfy Walter, a research historian who worked closely with the author, Betty Mayfield, Ivan Doig archivist, and Rick Bass, Writer-in-Residence in MSU’s College of Letters & Science and an award winning author. The panel is moderated by Dr. Mary Murphy, Montana historian and Distinguished Professor in the MSU College of Letters & Science.
