Microform Collection

The Libraries has over 2.2 million microforms. A collection of microform reader/printers offers our users the options of viewing or printing microforms. These machines are user friendly, and assistance is available if needed. Many premium collections can be found in our holdings.

Media Support/Equipment

AV/MRR, formally known as the Spain-Sedivy Resource Center, houses a large percentage of the library's collection of microforms. Some of the collections include:

  • ERIC microfiche (Educational Resources Information Center)
  • physical education theses
  • company reports
  • magazines
  • local and national newspapers [see Newspaper Collection]
Scanners Scanners MicroAV Equipment

We have two computer scanners for making electronic copies of microfilm/fiche. The copies can be saved to your USB drive or Z drive and emailed to yourself. Assistance is near by if needed. Since microforms do not circulate, they are to be viewed in the library with the readers located in AV/MRR or with the readers available adjacent to each of the collections on first or second floor. Coin and CatCard-operated reader-printers are available in AV/MRR for making paper copies from microfilm and microfiche. Instructions for use are on or near the machines. AV/MRR has the ability to produce duplicates of microfiche for a fee. Contact staff for microfiche reproduction details.

Staff are available in AV/MRR to answer questions and provide assistance during library hours.

Specialized subject sets in microform are located in the Reference area on the first floor and in Special Collections on the second floor. For more information on these other microform collections in the building, check the catalog or Ask a Librarian.
